Role 

This practice is seeking a long term or permanent GP. The role has eight to ten sessions per week, one weeknight on-call and very occasional weekend on-call. We are looking for someone who will work well as part of an experienced and supportive team. You will need some experience in dealing with rural accident and emergencies.   If you are a team player, an effective communicator, interested in a variety of work, and have a patient centred approach then this is the right position for you.

The practice will provide a lovely four bedroom house with furniture available if needed. Medical Council of NZ registration and medical indemnity insurance costs will be covered by the practice.

Location

Rotherham is situated 112 km north west of Christchurch, in the South Island of New Zealand with a population estimated around 2200 including its surrounding areas.  Rotherham is in the centre of the beautiful Hurunui District, which boasts amazing mountain scenery, a thriving agricultural and tourism industry, as well as a host of recreational pursuits. 

Rotherham and nearby Waiau offer some of the best access to the Waiau River for freshwater fishing enthusiasts.  Trout can be found here in good numbers and the salmon are found running from February to March each year. 

Temperatures in this region average around 20 to 24 °C in the summer and on average 10 to 12 °C in the middle of the winter months. There is a primary school, which provides a wonderful learning environment for children from years one to year six.
