Role

We are seeking a long term or permanent GP who is bright, cheerful and efficient. A GP who can handle a variety of work and pressure as this is a semi-rural busy teaching practice. You would be working six sessions per week with no on call requirements. The practice will pay for the registration fees to attend one conference per year.

Practice

The GP practice has three other GP’s, a GPEP1 registrar on a six month rotation, three part time receptionists, a Practice Manager and three part time nurses.  There are four doctor rooms, two nursing rooms, one counselling room and two treatment/surgery rooms. There are approximately 3600 enrolled patients with an average number of 26-30 patients per day. There is a high child and elderly patient base with one quarter being Maori.

Location

Huntly lies beside New Zealand’s longest river, the Waikato River and is also home to the country’s largest thermal power station.  The town is surrounded by lakes, walks and rich farmland and is 30 minutes to the nearest city of Hamilton.  Huntly has all the amenities you need from shops, banks, churches, library and schools.  The weather is pleasant all year round with warm summers and mild winters.

The Waikato region has the Waitomo Caves where you can see glow worms in their limestone environment and the Hobbiton movie set and many more tourist attractions.
