 • Experienced, dedicated team
 • Not for profit community centre
 • Long established health service

Role

We are seeking a GP for 6 months initially (potential option to extend), to join this friendly and supportive, not for profit community health centre. The clinic works largely with low/no income patients and a lot of migrants and refugees. The ideal applicant would be open minded with excellent communication skills; a lot of patients have English as a second language (although translators are available).

The practice employs 9 GPs who work across 3 sites. The main site is in Newtown, however the position would also involve working at a student health centre close by.  You would ideally be available for a total of 8 sessions per week across both health centres. They aim to have two GPs at each clinic (though there are more in Newtown), and each clinic has nursing staff as well as counselling at the student health centre. Practice staff also work closely with midwives who share the premises in Newtown.

The practice has a community focus and provides a range of services such as general medical care,  well health checks, immunisations, nutritional advice, well women checks, blood pressure checks, family planning, social worker, sexual health, minor surgery, asthma and diabetes, mental health support, health education and promotion on a range of issues.

Benefits

This practice has a supportive and healthy working environment where employees are highly valued and appreciated.  Their aim is to provide an affordable, accessible, acceptable and appropriate primary health service for people who are enrolled members of the service.  The Treaty of Waitangi principles of partnership are fundamental to the philosophy and activities of their Service.
