We are seeking a part time GP to work three sessions per week in Auckland’s Paremoremo prison.

• Generally 6-8 patients seen per session

You will be based at Paremoremo prison on Auckland’s North Shore, where there is a comfortable consulting room on site, along with a minor treatment room. You will be supported by nurses, and custodial staff who remain with the GP for all consultations. Safety is paramount and you will attend a half day orientation to create awareness around working with prisoners and learn how the custodians help ensure safety during consultations.

The ideal candidate will have experience with clients with drug and alcohol problems, and mental health issues. There is an excellent Forensic Team at the prison which works together with the GPs, as well as collegial support from two other GPs (though they are not onsite at the same time).

The positions will start as a one month contract, with the option of extending. Start date is negotiable, but as soon as possible.

A competitive sessional rate will be offered, and negotiated on application.
