Whangaroa Health Services is owned by Whangaroa Health Services Trust. The practice is situated in an ex regional hospital which has been converted into a practice consisting of four doctor rooms, three nurse rooms, two emergency overnight beds, two treatment rooms, a physio room and an x-ray room. The practice is located 1.5 kms outside the town of Kaeo. This is the only medical centre for 40 kms in both directions (north and south).

The practice has a registered practice population of 3200 – 3300 patients with on average 26 patients being seen a day by each GP in 15 minute appointments. It is open for clinics between 8.45am and 5.00pm with an evening clinic on a Tuesday from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. The practice office hours are 8.00am to 5.00pm weekdays. Both the weekday and weekend on call ratio is 1:4.

The three current FTE General Practitioners are supported by eight Practice Nurses, a Practice Manager and two Receptionists. The computerised patient management system used in the practice is Medtech 32.

The local hospital is Kawakawa Hospital, about 55 kms away, taking roughly 45 minutes to reach the practice. The hospital is well equipped. Flat garden view The closest base hospital is Whangarei Hospital, which is located roughly 115 kms away from Kaeo (one and a half hours). This is a 700 bed hospital with most specialists available. It provides a full range of secondary services as well as being the base for extensive community based services. Ambulance and helicopter services are also available.

Preferably with an immediate start date, Whangaroa Health Services has a full-time vacancy for an experienced General Practitioner to join this busy practice, working between three and five days a week, including on call. Salary is negotiable. Relocation and accommodation assistance will be provided as well as reimbursement of professional fees such as APC and MPS fees.
