Coast to Coast Health Care offers the Primary Care Physician an exciting and varied clinical experience full of opportunity in a challenging but supported clinical environment. The Practice has developed as a somewhat unique Primary Care service in rural New Zealand in that we are a health provider with a relatively large team of Doctors, Nurses and support staff delivering our services to several different towns from six Medical Clinics linked by a Health Record Intranet in real time and with services provided on a “hub and spoke model”, with the multipurpose and after hours centre based at Wellsford, and satellite clinics in Snells Beach and Matakana to the Southeast, Mangawhai to the Northeast, Maungaturoto and Paparoa to the Northwest.
Service team members have also developed their skills to provide Primary Care Medicine and nursing to include GP services to our Maori Health provider colleagues, known as Te Ha O Te Oranga O Ngati Whatua, Occupational Health services to major employers, School Clinics, Rest Home Clinics, nurse led chronic care management programs, Ear Nurse Specialist Clinics, Nurse Smear takers, Diabetes Nurse specialists, as well as advance acute care management skills (e.g.: nurses with scope’s of practice that enable limb radiology).
Complimenting our services are those of a number of other health providers including but not limited to radiographers, physiotherapists, podiatrist, counselors, visiting surgical specialists in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology etc.
As our nearest hospitals are in the metropolitan centres, we in fact are presented with a wide variety of clinical scenarios from routine GP, to Accident & Medical walk in patients, to true emergencies from collapses to motor vehicle accidents. To meet these needs we have developed a large team of providers and have progressively developed our nursing workforce in particular to support our physicians especially in ‘after hours care’. Our goal is of a supported team Doctor & Nurse providing care 24hours per day, while currently on an ‘on-call’ basis, ultimately on a ‘shift bases.’
So if the concept of a true generalist appeals to you, with everything from birth to death in a large team of dedicated health professionals providing comprehensive care to our community, then Coast to Coast Health Care, New Zealand may be your next exciting adventure.
