Dr Hilliker Surgery is a small friendly practice that is privately owned. The Practice has been run for 40 years by the same GP and is situated very close to town the centre in a lovely area. The premises have three consultation rooms, an office and a large waiting room. Two nurses, one undertaking postgraduate qualification, two receptionists and a practice manager support the current General Practitioner.
Practice hours are 9.00 am – 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday and on call is 1:5. The Practice’s patient pool is 1670 with ample opportunity for growth. The number of patients seen daily is approximately 33 seen in 15-minute appointments. The Practice uses laboratory services and physiotherapists at Dr Vara’s Practice.
Dr Hilliker Surgery is affiliated to the South Link Health Independent Practitioners’ Association (IPA), which provides support for its General Practitioners. It is also a member of the West Coast Primary Health Organisation (PHO), receiving patient subsidies available for PHO-affiliates. The practice is fully computerised and uses the Medcen computerised management system.
The local hospital is at Timaru, 17km from the practice. Timaru Hospital is a 24-hour general hospital with 133 beds, and has recently been completely remodeled. The base hospital, Christchurch Hospital, is one of the major hospitals in New Zealand, and is 170 kilometres from the practice. Volunteer ambulance services take approximately 10 minutes to reach the practice.
Dr Hilliker Surgery is seeking a permanent full time General Practitioner. As the practice holds a PRIME (Primary Response in Medical Emergency) contract, the position would be most suited to a person with experience in emergency medicine.
