Te Pou Ora Family Health Clinic is located in the centre of the town in a renovated Railway Station owned by a trust; it comprises two consult rooms and two minor surgery areas. The practice is well equipped; they have ECG and blood pressure machines, PATHLAB as well as all the usual General Practice equipment such as minor surgery.

The two FTE General Practitioners are supported by three Practice Nurses, a Practice Manager and one Receptionist. The computerised patient management system used is Profile and the practice is affiliated to the Te Toiora PHO.

The practice has 1003 patients, predominantly Maori, with on average between 16 and 24 patients attending 15 minute appointments each day. Surgery hours are 9.00am to 4.30pm (office hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm), with a weekday and weekend on call ratio of 1:5, on call hours are generally 5.00pm to 8.30am.

The local hospital is Te Kuiti Hospital, which is a local GP-driven hospital. It is 1.5 kms away, taking roughly four to six minutes to reach the hospital from the practice. Te Kuiti Hospital offer Accident and Emergency facilities as well Outpatient clinics. The closest base hospital is Waikato Hospital, approximately 87kms away, taking about an hour from the practice. St Johns Ambulance services are available to the practice; this takes roughly five to ten minutes to reach the practice.

There are a number of facilities in the town area such as; a community library, five banking groups, four petrol stations, one of which is open 24 hours, five vehicle maintenance facilities, two dentists, and a heated indoor swimming pool – all this to name a few. Located just 9kms away from the practice is one of two golf courses in the area. There are a number of other clubs and sporting facilities in Te Kuiti such as; a Youth Club, Hot Rod/Car Enthusiast Club, Diving Club, Waitete Rugby Club (otherwise known as Colin Meads club), they offer such sporting facilities as Badminton, Squash, Bowling, indoor and out, Soccer, Netball, Swimming, Tennis, Athletics etc. Te Kuiti has access to some of the best trout fishing in the world. During summer, the staff will fish off the beach. Deer and pig hunting is less than an hour’s drive from the practice.

Preferably with an immediate start date, Te Pou Ora Family Health Clinic has a full-time vacancy available for an experienced General Practitioner. A generous package is offered along with a 2006 black Rav4, indemnity insurance and registration is provided along with the possibility of relocation and accommodation assistance.
