Taumarunui Medical Centre has modern, purpose-built premises that share the same site as Taumarunui Hospital. Taumarunui Hospital is one of four regional hospitals managed by the Waikato District Health Board that provide inpatient and outpatient services, including 24-hour emergency services.
The practice is owned by Dr. Manjur Morshed. The aim of the Practice is to create and provide a family general practice and services for the health and well being of all its patients, in the communities of Taumarunui & District. To ensure the services provided are of a high quality and relevant to the demographics of the area in which it services.
The new owner GP is ensuring that community issues and requirements are communicated. This will ensure the practice to provide a superior service in all aspects of Primary Health Care.
The practice’s two General Practitioners are supported by two full time practice nurses and two administrative staff. The working environment is modern and fully computerised, using the Medtech 32 patient management system. Taumarunui Medical Centre is affiliated to the Waikato Primary Health Organisation (PHO), receiving patient subsidies available for PHO-affiliates. It is also a member of the Pinnacle Independent Practitioners’ Association (IPA), which provides support for its members.
Surgery hours are 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. The practice also provides external services to approximately 16 patients at Rest Homes. After hours calls are fully triaged and when on call it would only be between 5.00pm and 8.00pm. Weekend call is one in four.
The base hospital is Waikato, one of New Zealand’s largest hospitals, with 650 beds and a diverse range of services. Waikato Hospital is also a tertiary teaching hospital.
Taumarunui Medical Centre is looking to employ a General Practitioner on salary or as a contract locum for long term, to work six sessions per week and starting as soon as possible. Assistance with relocation, accommodation, vehicle and registration are all negotiable.
