Pfeffer Family Trust owns Pfeffer Medical Services Ltd. Pfeffer Medical is in a landmark building; built in 1923 it opened originally as a bank. It has been extensively refurbished and used as a surgery for Pfeffer Medical Services Ltd since 2004. The Practice is located in the centre of town, with easy patient access and lots of patient parking.
Pfeffer Medical Services is a fully equipped practice and has a full resuscitation trolley. It also has a small after hour’s pharmacy on the premises for dispensing when pharmacy is closed. The Practice is completely computerized with the management system being Medtech also available is wireless LAN and broadband. X rays, Physiotherapist, Mental Health Services and laboratory services are done at the Taumarunui Hospital 4km away from the surgery. It takes less than 5mins for the volunteer ambulance service to arrive.
A Practice Manager, one full time practice nurse, three part time nurses and one receptionist support the practice’s General Practitioner. Taumarunui Medical Centre is affiliated to the Waikato Primary Health Organisation (PHO), receiving patient subsidies available for PHO-affiliates. It is also a member of the Pinnacle Independent Practitioners’ Association (IPA), which provides support for its members.
The practice has 1700 registered patients and climbing who are seen in 15 –20 minute appointments. The Surgery hours are 8.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday – Thursday, Friday 8.30am – 12pm, with on call being 1:4.
The base hospital is Waikato, one of New Zealand’s largest hospitals, with 650 beds and a diverse range of services that is 165km away. Waikato Hospital is also a tertiary teaching hospital.
Pfeffer Medical is looking to employ a General Practitioner full time. Initially on salary with a view to directorship or even the opportunity to purchase the practice. Assistance with relocation, accommodation, vehicle and registration are all negotiable.
