Bush Trust Medical Centre requires a General Practitioner to work 6 – 10 sessions per week. There is no on call with this position. Surgery hours are 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.
Bush Trust Medical Centre is located in the heart of the town centre, close to all amenities. The purpose-built premises comprise three doctor’s rooms and five nursing/treatment areas. They are adjacent to health care services operated by MidCentral District Health Board. This gives ready access to a wide range of community health practitioners and visiting specialists. The practice also provides external services to around 45 residents at a local rest home.
The practice owners are two of the three General Practitioners (two full-time, one part time), who are supported by six experienced practice nurses with a range of expertise that includes the ability to vaccinate and take smears. The practice is very well-resourced, including a new defibrillator, and fully computerised, using the MedTech 32 practice management system.
The closest base hospital, providing a full range of tertiary services, is at Palmerston North, only 50 kilometres away. An ambulance can be at the practice within 15 minutes of being called and the volunteer crew is supported by one paramedic.
Bush Trust Medical Centre offers a supportive environment with good local peer review and Continuing Medical Education (CME) meetings through Palmerston North Hospital, Dannevirke and Masterton.
All terms and conditions of employment are negotiable. The practice holds a Primary Response in Emergency Medicine (PRIME) contract and while the position would suit a General Practitioner with experience or an interest in emergency medicine this is not a prerequisite.
