Southcare Manaia is located in a modern commercial, converted building in the centre of Manaia; it comprises two consulting rooms and a treatment room.
The only General Practitioner is supported by two Practice Nurses, a Practice Manager and one Receptionist. The computerised patient management system used is Medtech 32. Southcare Manaia is open from 8.00am to 1.00pm every day; however there is the opportunity to work extra hours in Hawera Surgery if required. The practice has 3000 patients, with on average 20 seen per day in 15 minute appointments.
The practice is affiliated to the Hauora Taranaki PHO, which provides support for its GPs. Southcare Manaia has all necessary diagnostic, resuscitation equipment and minor surgery facilities. X-ray facilities are available in Hawera, which is 15 kms away from the practice.
The local hospital is Hawera Hospital, who provide 24/7 emergency services as well as providing inpatient and outpatient services. The closest base hospital is New Plymouth Hospital, approximately an hours’ drive from the practice. They provide an on call ambulance to transfer patients to the emergency department in Hawera which takes roughly 15 minutes.
Southcare Manaia is seeking a General Practitioner to work a minimum of 25 hours per week. Accommodation and vehicle will be provided for the first three months. Annual APC and MPS fees will be paid for. A GP is needed to staff Manaia but may work in Hawera if extra hours are required.
