Darfield Medical Centre is situated in the centre of Darfield, roughly 30 minutes from Christchurch in a renovated home, consisting of four doctor’s rooms and a procedures room. This council owned practice is well equipped; they have laboratory services and minor surgery facilities available on site.
There are four GPs working between 4/10ths and 8/10ths per week. The GPs are supported by three Practice Nurses and three Receptionists. The computerised patient management system used is Medtech.
Darfield Medical Centre has more than 6000 patients, with on average 25 patients attending 15 minute appointments each day. Surgery and office hours are 8.30am to 5.30pm weekdays, with a weekday and weekend on call ratio of 1:3 to 1:4.
The closest local and base hospital is Christchurch Public Hospital, which is a teaching hospital. It is 40 kms away, taking roughly 40 minutes to reach the hospital from the practice. Christchurch Public Hospital offer all main hospital facilities such as; obstetrics, A & E surgery etc.
Most facilities are available in Darfield such as; a community library, service stations, swimming pool, churches, all levels of schools, supermarkets, sports and cultural clubs and more.
There are a number of golf courses in the area, the closest of which is located only 10kms away. Most clubs and sporting facilities are represented in Darfield, e.g. Badminton, Squash, Bowling, indoor and out, Soccer, Netball, Swimming, Tennis, Athletics and Mt Hutt skifield is less than an hour away.
Start date is negotiable but as soon as possible. Darfield Medical Centre has a full-time vacancy available for an experienced General Practitioner to work eight or nine sessions a week. Expected earnings will be very competitve and bonus after each year completed as well as a vehicle for longer term contracts. Assistance with accommodation can also be provided.
