Danish doctors deployed to rural NZ

Three Danes were amongst eight new international GPs who attended the August NZLocums Orientation course before heading to various rural practices.

Sune Tybjerg-Pedersen, Johan Soderlund and Thomas Erstad from Denmark are working at Katikati Medical Centre, Darfield Medical Centre and Te Oranganui Medical Centre; Laura Ireland and Jordon Despain from the USA are working at Hokianga Health and Mountain View Medical; and Mary McDevitt, Julie Boulanger and Istvan Orosz from Australia, Canada and Hungary are based at Ostend Medical Centre, Ruatahi Medical Centre and Mountain View Medical.

The three-day Orientation course held in Wellington provides overseas doctors with a comprehensive introduction to the New Zealand health system covering topics such as Pharmac, ACC and MPS.
