About Us

NZLocums is a rural general (family) practitioner recruitment service that recruits doctors to work in rural general practice in New Zealand.

NZLocums is a not-for-profit organisation.  It is the only recruitment scheme of its kind funded by the Government to ensure rural New Zealanders have access to quality health care.

The aim of NZLocums is to:

  • Recruit enough locums to provide eligible rural General Practitioners throughout New Zealand with a minimum of two weeks cover per annum.
  • Source long term and permanent General Practitioner and Nurse Practitioner candidates for rural primary health care practices.

To achieve these aims, NZLocums has a team of experienced health recruitment staff dedicated to looking after the specific requirements of health professionals working in rural New Zealand.

NZLocums has a good understanding of the issues facing rural primary health care and because of this we offer a unique degree of support and assistance in its recruitment activities.

A three-day, CME accredited orientation programme is provided so that doctors can hit the ground running.
